<XS> Gymnasium - B1

For a mutant school, this is a pretty standard gym, even if its sturdy construction to handle mutant powers is less standard. Still, it is designed along normal lines; setup for a basketball court, standard equipment -- punching bags, rubber mats, standard assortment of balls, weight training equipment, the usual fare. It is large, and as well-appointed as the rest of Xavier’s tends to be.

It's quite early in the morning, shortly after one. The gym is empty except for one person, Kaine. The teen appears to have made a few minor adjustments to the basketball court, pillars of ice holding cans up at varying heights. He's seated at the opposite end of the pillars, apparently catching his breath. He's wearing a gray beanie, muted red and black plaid flannel shirt, and slim fitting jeans with shredded knees. He also happens to be encased in an icy armor several inches thick with claws replacing his fingers, and spines running down his arms.

Hailey carefully moves through the shadows emerging as she usually does with a soft distorting noise ending in a thump of her boots. She carefully rolls her shoulders looking about before pulling her own cans through. She notices the ice man and his towers and such before narrowing her eyes slightly. "Hmm you're here again?" She asks as she walks up after him, not that quiet due to her heavy boots and bag of assorted cans.

"Either here or at the lake." Kaine replies with a slight shrug, pushing up to his feet once more. "Usually go to the lake for this." The spines along his arms turn to water and settle around his hands. "But I can't work out down there as well." He raises his right hand, and shoots off several spikes made of water towards one of the cans, which freezes shortly before impact, two spikes sticking into the pillar and one skewering the can. "Feel free to set up too."

Hailey rolls her eyes, "Making things cold in here where they're trying to heat aren't you?" She huffs slightly before closing her eyes. She sets her own cans up. Carefully dressing up the cans in different arrays. From there she adjusts herself and tries to pull in the shadows. She makes it look as though she were getting ready to try her own exercises before attempting to use her shadows to break one of his pillars. Flattening the shadows into an edge then adding force to try and clip the top off and knock his ice and can down.

"Usually in the negatives this time of year back home. Not that bad here." Kaine replies lightly, attention moving towards the clipped segment of his pillar. He doesn't make any visible movements, but it doesn't stop the fragment from exploding into a number of tiny snow balls that knock off two more cans. "Rather like it here. Most the time I don't even have to wear a jacket."

Hailey shrugs, she herself is in a fluffed jacket and long pants. "I live here and I'm cold." She grumbles before seeing he isn't going to complain about her actions. She sighs and focuses on the cans. She watches, puts her hand up in the shape of a gun and clicks her finger down. The shadows around the cans twist and move but the can itself just wobbles slightly.

"Well, ice mutation." Kaine points out. "Be kind of awful if I got cold as everyone else." The unoccupied pillars turn to slush now, and then to water, gathering at the teenager's feet. "Ever used those abilities you have in a spar?"

Hailey points down at the ground where the water is sitting. "Don't let those puddles stay here, you'll ruin the floors." She says with a little hm. In regards to the other question she shakes her head. "Nah, I've gotten better at getting from here to there using the shadows but the whole fighting thing is still pretty danger instinct.

"Hadn't planned on ruining the floor." Kaine assures Hailey, the majority of the water evaporating, while the rest climbs up his person and replaces the spikes along his arms, as well as adding a row down his back. "Should work on that. If it isn't going to get us in a shit ton of trouble, have no problem sparring with you. Long as you don't cut me up or anything."

Hailey thinks a moment before sighing. "Well that's the thing, I can't fully control the whole fight or flight thing ya know. I might end up beating the hell out of you, or even just teleporting you to the roof or something and leaving you there." she looks around. "I haven't really met anyone that uses powers like mine so I can't get any tips, but not in danger it's hard to focus So i'm kinda catch 22 right now ya know."

"If you can't tell the difference between a spar and an actual fight, you may want to find somebody that can help out. May not even have to have the same powers." Kaine suggests, the remaining pillars slushing over before evaporating. "I'm just trying to work on the amount I can handle, and how much I can make before it burns me out."

Hailey Sighs a little and nods. "Well if you want to do this just gimme a sec and don't blame me if you get hurt." She lets out a breath, pulling her jacket closer and making sure she was covered from as much light as she could. The shadows around her dance slightly as she looks at Kaine, watching closely.

Kaine raises his hands slightly. "I'm not forcing you into anything. Messing around with stuff you can't control properly is dangerous, and I'm not stupid." As he speaks his claws reshape into fingers. "Doesn't mean I won't do it, but only if you /want/ to."

Hailey shrugs her shoulders. "Nah, let's wait, I get into enough trouble as is, making the gym flooded frozen and cut isn't quite the way to get on the good side of people around here. See if you can grab a teacher for it. Till then I'm gonna go wander then crash." She waves and stretches moving to a wall before pressing into it, slowly sliding through. "I'm Hailey Star by the way."

"Kaine Faulkner." Kaine calls after, moving to clean up his mess once Hailey has left.
