Private Residence

Mai's apartment is not overly large, or luxurious in any other way, it is in fact on the cheaper end you can find in Manhattan, but there is one part of the wall that is special, covered in black and red cloth, there is a simple wooden table front of it on which are two framed photographs, one for each of her parents. Behind them, hanging on the wall are her most prized possessions on display, a pair of butterfly knives, a tai-chi saber, a pair of tonfas, and a short spear, all kept in excellent condition.

Currently, she is sitting crosslegged on the floor, spread front of her are a collection of newspaper articles, all related to the incident where her parents died, and she is working on a sort of mind map about the subject, specifically about the people who did this. There are silhouettes of six men in the middle, four have actual faces and have a red cross drawn over them, the other two are simply black silhouettes with a question mark on them, those are the two that got away. While she is doing this, there is also three tennis balls hovering in the air next to her that are getting sort of 'juggled' around, as she practices her telekinetic powers at the same time. She learned early on that the weight of the objects did not matter, at least not in the terms of weights that she has tried, as in several kilos weighting iron weights were no more difficult to move than these tennis balls, so she might as well use these to not cause so much damage if she loses control of them. What does affect her ability is the number of objects though, at start she could only keep one item at a time under control, then two, and now she can already do three fairly effortlessly, but she is sure that she has barely scratched the surface of her abilities yet.

Anyway, now, she has a lead, her earlier research gave her a name of the group they belong to, 'Patriotic Brotherhood,' which is written in the next box in the map, and it was surprisingly easy to find their homepage from the net, most of it was just your standard issue anti-mutant propaganda, but of more interest was the contact information, as they seem eager to recruit more like-minded people, and the address of their recruiter, right here in Manhattan. One Keith Greene, a middle-aged, balding man, whos picture and address are written in the next box on the map. The group is so small that this person has to know the identities of the two gunmen that escaped, but the police have done nothing, lack of evidence is probably the official explanation... most likely they just don't care since these guys are targeting mutants.

"{You once told me, 'The past is a ghost that haunts you, from the moment it exists, to the moment you don't.' It may be so, but these ghosts I intend to put to rest, -much- sooner.}" She says out loud in mandarin, as she stares at the two mystery silhouettes, then looking up to the pictures of her parents on the table. "{I miss you so much. I did not start this fight, but I will finish it, for you. I swear it.}"

Sighing, she looks up to the clock, it is really late, she is close now, she can feel it, tomorrow she will have to look into this address, and form a plan, but for now, she gathers up all the articles and stashes them back in the binder where she keeps them and puts them away, time to go to bed.
