A dark soul returns to light after two decades. Part of TP-Laughter.

Location

<NYC> Midtown East

A dense, skyscraper packed neighborhood, Midtown is the busiest commercial district in the United States, and one of the busiest pieces of land in the world. Day and night, Midtown is filled with people going to and from work, enjoying the nightlife, and walking quickly through the streets. Very few live in Midtown proper - only the most wealthy and work-obsessed - but many who live in and around the City work here. In many ways, Midtown is the heart that beats in the city that never sleeps.

It's rather late, past supper for most people, though as they say, Midtown never sleeps. A young woman, rather attractive with long brown hair propped up, and bright blue eyes, wearing a gray and black jacket with a matching skirt, moves through an alley. Her right hand is free, but her left hand is busy, holding her smartphone to her ear as she chatters with her boyfriend, attempting to get home as quickly as possible by taking a shortcut.

Muffled footsteps come from above, before getting closer until they're on the ground. Though the woman has no clue, her conversation drowning out any impending sight of threat. Until /he/ begins to hum. A fast-paced melody, upbeat and energetic. And the footsteps begin to get closer. The man begins to sing, causing the woman to stop.

"Feeling unknown and you're all alone..flesh and bone, by the telephone.."

The woman begins to turn around, and that is when it happens.

The man sprints forward, a mask on his face, white with red splatters, a fanged grin just so happy to see her. A black and white outfit covering his body, a vest over the outfit and a pair of white gloves, one of which wields a cleaver, the empty hand aiming for her face as the blade aims for the wrist holding the phone. And yet, he doesn't stop singing.

"Flesh and bone, by the telephone. Lift up the receiver.."

The cleaver slices into her wrist, hand going numb as the woman drops her phone, the man's foot moving quickly as it falls onto the ground to crush it. His hand quickly grabs her mouth, muffling a scream, as he rotates the cleaver in his hand to cut slowly through her cheek.

"I'll make you a believer."

The man tosses her to the ground, moving lower and slicing through her uncut wrist. He stands up straight, before putting a boot on her throat, putting his foot down tight as she gasps for breath.

"I will deliver.."

And then he moves quickly once more. Lifting his foot, he drops himself towards her, slicing gently through her throat, not just yet killing her.

"You know I'm a forgiver..".

And then he lifts the blade up once more, before smashing it through her neck, his outfit, gloves, and blade colored red, as he lifts himself from the body.

The man, grinning under the mask just the same as the mask grins, reaches to the side of his outfit, removing a white mask like his own, a large red heart adorning the front, as he lies it on her face.

"Reach out and touch faith.".

And then the man sprints off, long gone before anyone finds the body.
