New York's Best
"Twelve David, on the corner of Thirty-eight and Two you'll find a three car accident. Two taxis and a taxi. One-two Henry, 427 East Two-two, report of a very bad smell."
Introduction

xxxxxSolid and dependable since the day she was born, Gina is more of an observer than an extrovert. She's the rock other people tend to stand on and it's served her well in her chosen field. Unflappable on the outside, inwardly she has a tendency towards taking on too much and this has led to a highly developed sense of guilt-- a fact which her mother is not above using, "for her own good".

History

xxxxxGina is second generation Italian, her grandparents on both sides having immigrated to the United States in the 1950s. They settled in New York and raised their respective broods to be proud and hard-working Americans. Gina's father worked for the fire department until he passed in 1999, Gina's mother is still playing matriarch of the extended clan from Queens.

She has a son, Eric, with her now ex-husband; his conception and birth was an event several years (and many large fertility treatment bills) in the making. When he was a year old, his parents called it quits. Both are still paying off the bills and juggling custody and daycare between them. Having Gina's Ma as a babysitter has helped a great deal.

Gina herself had few aspirations beyond wife and mother until she was divorced. With her older brother's advice, she re-enrolled in school and became a paramedic; sometimes she wonders if her quick hiring after graduation was more a result of the family name than her own abilities. But she's done right by the department and has recently left her rookie status behind. Patients like her, her partner likes her, everyone just seems to like her and it's helped her career, even if she has run into the glass ceiling of the good old boy's network on several occasions.

As for this mutant stuff, well...she isn't a mutant. Mutants are terrible people, they may not even be human, or so says Ma. And everyone knows you don't argue with Ma.

Powers

xxxxxGina is a classic empath; she can sense emotion and affect it as well. On an unconscious level, this makes her likable and quick to adapt to situations. On a conscious level, she can dull the edges or outright shift moods when the shit hits the fan. On the downside, she's not much for clubs or concerts, and won't be found anywhere near a mall parking lot during Christmas. Down with crowds!

Connections

Friends

  • Cameron (NPC)- My partner on the truck, knew Pop. Drinks too much but he's got my back.

Foes

  • Albert (NPC)- Mr. Funklestein is one of our frequent fliers. He can't talk, stinks to high heaven and likes me a little too much.

Family

  • Eric (NPC)- My boy, my reason for everything. Love him.
  • Ma (NPC)- She knows everything...just ask her. Love her...most of the time.
  • Steve (NPC)- My ex-husband. He's a better father than a husband, but it goes both ways.
  • Tony (NPC)- Older brother. A know-it-all in training. Love him even if he did move to Jersey.
  • Assorted uncles, aunts, cousins and in-laws (NPCs)- Sometimes it feels like New Riccio City around here.
