xxxxxLatveria is a woefully small country situated in the Balkans south of Hungary, flanked by Serbia and Romania. The country is roughly the size of Estonia, although its population is understandably lesser. It is a landlocked country, boasting an extraordinarily hilly landscape. Many of the villages are surprisingly old, surrounded by forested hills or even mountains, somewhat reminiscent of rural south parts of Germany.
xxxxxHassenburg is the capital city of the country. Despite its decent size, it is still minuscule in comparison to cities such as New York or Shanghai. It is the oldest and the most culturally rich city in all of Latveria. The rigidly positioned streets are lined by aged houses that resemble adorable dollhouses. Despite the severity of war the country was subjected to, the capital city is just barely damaged.

xxxxxLatveria was once a free region home to gypsy tribes that tentatively banded together before the Ottoman Empire expanded into the Balkans. The country then became part of Ottoman Hungary, and afterwards it failed to escape the grasp of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Even after Hungary lost most of its power and territory after World War I, Latveria remained leashed, even if papers claimed it was to be autonomous. Unfortunately, the region had no real leader figures to distinguish it as a sovereign state. Hungary was happy to exploit Latveria’s rich natural resources, such as plentiful deposits of iron, silver, oil and titanium.
xxxxxIn late 2012, an uprising shook the country as the nation tried to shake itself loose. The rebellion was largely disorganised, at least until the appearance of Doctor Doom in the winter of 2013. He organised the rebels into an amazing force, leading them through the country with surprising strategical prowess, liberating one territory after another with surprising speed. There were even reports of him being in two places at once, although those might just be conflicting reports. Shabby footage from phones and the like show Victor van Doom surviving all manner of firepower, although it is said he did not kill a single soul during the ordeal. The country's independence was recognised by the international community at the end of March.

| Known Things About Latveria
|
- Latveria has an abysmal media presence. Foreign reporters are strictly disallowed in Latveria at the moment, and it only has one news company, set up by Doctor Doom himself. This might seem suspicious if not for the fact the country didn't have any media before.
- Internet is available only in the capital city and surrounding regions. It is DSL-level; broadband is not there just yet.
- Social websites are currently banned in Latveria. A censored version (no political content) of YouTube exists.
- The political structure of the country is constitutional monarchy with plans for democracy, but currently it fits the bill of absolute monarchy.
- The country boasts having no nuclear weaponry. It was mentioned that any and all nuclear produce will be traded away, instead.
- Almost all villages of notable size only have a minor presence of human law enforcement. Centaur-like androids (half-humanoid, half-tank) patrol them instead.
- Religion is banned, although this merely became official when Doom became the monarch. The country has no churches (what few there were had been destroyed over the course of history), and the Romani people of Latveria never were the religious sort.
- All video games are also banned in Latveria.

| Recent Events
|
- As part of a joint restoration effort between machines, locals and Shaw-appointed resources, most of the damage wrought by the rebellion has been undone.
- The country remains in a dishevelled state due to ages old neglect. The industries are recovering more slowly, but just as steadily.
- To that end, a plethora of opportunities have been created for emigrants and expanding businesses. There is some controversy that suggests that the Latverian government has too much say in local businesses, but businesses expanding from abroad report welcoming conditions.
- The first publicly open mutant research facility has been opened, offering relatively short-term trials, medical attention, guidance and long-term cooperation. The lab has two levels - the surface level is a mobile lab that patrols the country, while the deep and private level (where long-term research is conducted) is in Hassenburg. So far, it's resoundingly successful, despite controversy abroad.
- Latveria has also implemented mandatory mutant registration. All forms of identification state whether their holder is a mutant. Failure to register as a mutant is grounds for indentured service in the deep level of the mutant research facility.
- The country currently has mediocre to poor travel connection. Railroads are being improved and expanded, mostly by machines.
- Although not very high on the priority list, additional schools are being built.
