NEWS STORIES

xxxxx Cleanup Crew

Our reporters returned to Grover's Mill yesterday afternoon to bring us this story. In a bizarre turn of events, a group of volunteers clearing rubble were attacked by… giant ants, of all things. Witnesses claim the workers fended off the creatures with various mutant abilities, but no footage has been found so far. Authorities are in general agreement that the ants themselves must be the product of some mutant ability. Apparently one of the ants was killed, but witnesses claim the body shrunk back to normal size a short while later. Authorities were unable to locate a body in all the rubble. No further ants have been spotted since the incident.

xxxxx The Original News Story

Tragedy in Gover's Mill, NJ this morning. Preliminary reports indicate that most of the town's main strip, including shops, banks and several fast food restaurants, has fallen into some kind of sinkhole, or series of sinkholes over the course of last night.

Not far away from main street, the town's main elementary school, junior high and high school were also found to be mostly underground, and reduced to rubble. Much of the neighborhoods seem to be untouched, and the town's one hospital, right near the rest of the devastation, somehow escaped any of the surrounding sinkhole activity. The hospital is running on backup generators as of this morning due to a town-wide blackout, but New Jersey state resources are mobilizing to provide the hospital with whatever ongoing resources it might require.

Officials are still baffled as to the cause of this event. The region is known for its tectonic stability, and the actual moment of collapse only barely registered on local seismic instruments. Only a handful of people were injured, though some quite seriously, and no deaths have been reported yet.

Across the board, residents interviewed by this station indicated dismay at ever fully recovering from this disaster. The town has been supported by a meager tourist population, but experts are saying it could be a year or more before the buildings are properly demolished, and the streets repaired, possibly longer.

Officials are also asking, if you're traveling south out of New York, please find alternate routes.
