Introduction
|
xxxxxPerfection was expected at every step, but no matter how hard she tried, Marian Leigh Hayworth could not achieve it. No matter how many beauty pageants won, or talent competitions decimated, there was always something more that could have been done, more to hone, beats better hit. No human could have been what her mother wanted. No mutant, either.

History
|
xxxxxMari was the youngest of three children born to Daniel Ray and Sarah Ann Hayworth of Boston, Massachusetts. Sarah turned her only daughter into an object at an early age, entering her into her first beauty pageant before she was six months of age. That win bolstered her mother's drive, and the next thirteen and a half years was spent trying to turn her daughter into the pinnacle of human beauty.
xxxxxThis was, of course, not meant to be. A traumatic traffic accident brought about by Sarah's own hand triggered Mari's hemakinetic mutation, and the sight of her nearly perfect daughter being destroyed... then reformed... forever changed both Hayworth women. Sarah forced her husband and sons to cut contact with the fourteen year old, declaring her a menace and a danger, even going as far as to have a restraining order placed on the child. With no family to turn to, she was placed under the care of Child Protective Services, but bouncing from household to household over the coming months came to be too much to bear. Mari ran away, living on the wet streets of Boston for over two years.
xxxxxA random encounter with her brother on the streets of Beantown in March of 2013 ended with her being dragged back home for a few days while her mother was out of town. When Mrs. Hayworth returned, however, there was an altercation, and law enforcement was called. The elder woman, however, was removed from the premises after she brandished a weapon towards Mari with officers on hand. The next day, despite trying to slip out quietly, she was intercepted by her father and brought to Xavier's School, where she would be safe and could learn to harness her gifts.

Powers
|
xxxxxMari is a hemakinetic: she has the ability to use and control blood. This gives her the ability to heal from severe damage, to prevent some injury, and, if necessary, attack with already drawn cruor. She may be one of the only people in the world for whom cutting is not necessarily a bad thing.

Connections
|
Blood is Thicker...
- Daniel Hayworth - Father. Cares very deeply about his daughter, but has no strength to stand up to his overbearing wife. The secret financial support he's providing to Mari is the first time he's dared defy his wife's wishes in twenty years.
Makes the Blood Run Cold
- Sarah Hayworth - Mother. When her daughter, the girl she'd raised to be perfect, first manifested her powers, Sarah Hayworth felt a deep and pervasive disgust cascade through her. She wanted a perfect child, and no... mutant... could be perfect. Mrs. Hayworth has become a rather vocal proponent for the Friends of Humanity since her daughter's change, and has shown willingness to remove the girl she once called her own from the Earth.
Kind of Anaemic
- Rahne - Roommate at Xavier's. They really haven't had much interaction just yet. Time will tell how they get along.

Xavier's School - She's so new, you can still smell the formaldehyde on her uniform.
|
Mom - Sarah Hayworth is kind of vocal in the Friends of Humanity, and she's been rather instrumental in the FoH getting a foothold in Bostonian politics.
|
Eww - A pretty girl with a very ugly mutation. Hemaphobes beware.
