Toruuuuu, werewolves of London.
Introduction

xxxxxToru is immature, impulsive, and a lot more naive than he'd care to admit. He's got a lot of anger inside him over much of what's happened in his life, be they real events or exaggerated recollections; look up the phrase 'chip on his shoulder' and, while you won't find a picture of the kid, you will find a definition that fits him pretty well. He's volatile, frequently manic, and probably bipolar.

History

xxxxxWhen Satoru Suzuhara was the tiniest of Torus, he had an older brother who he looked up to very much. He followed his brother everywhere, when he got old enough to do so, and wanted to be just as cool and as smart and as tall as he was. So on one hand, when Kazuo was killed in a car accident at the age of 17 - when Satoru was just 12 - it spared the younger brother the pain of finding out that he really was kind of a nuisance and not all that welcome to be a daily intruder.

xxxxxOn the other hand, he'd probably have had an easier time getting over that than suddenly having his favorite person in the world vanish from his life.

xxxxxIt was soon after this that Toru started to notice certain... changes in his body. Whether it was the shock of his brother's death, the onset of puberty, or some combination of the two, around this time is when his mutation started to manifest; the only saving grace was that it managed to happen with convenient timing. The first time he was aware of anything being 'off', he woke up in the middle of the night, almost completely paralyzed. Eventually he was able to figure out how to reverse the effect; over time it started happening more and more frequently. He started wearing gloves, long sleeves and jeans most of the time, even in the heat of summer, and developed a reputation for being... a little off.

xxxxxHis school attendance started to suffer, as well, though his grades remained decent in spite of that. Never one to seek recognition for good academic standing, he ultimately graduated from highschool with B+'s across the board, and left home almost immediately after, unable to cope with, as he perceived it, constantly having to be in his brother's shadow, and the accompanying constant reminder of that loss.

xxxxxWith anti-mutant fervor on the rise and he himself having a very strong sense that he should be able to have what he wants, Toru has become aware of the Brotherhood of Mutants, though as yet he's been unable to figure out how to actually get himself involved with them. In the meantime, he's gotten himself a cheap apartment and has a few part-time bicycle delivery jobs; spends what time he can working, but it's a flexible gig and it pays the bills.

Powers

xxxxxToru's mutation is twofold; he is able to turn his flesh into bone, and reverse the process; likewise, given prolonged physical contact, he is able to do the same to others.

xxxxxGenerally how this works is that, with intense concentration, he can essentially convert his flesh into a sort of armor. It is always solid, however; if he were to attempt to ossify his entire body, he would essentially become a living statue. In practice, he'll usually only apply the effect to his hands and forearms. If he isn't multitasking, the change takes several seconds - which, in a combat situation, can make all the difference - but if he's trying to do several things at once, it can take twice as long. Likewise, when he is undergoing the change, it's not exactly painful, but the discomfort can be likened to the feeling you get when restoring circulation to a limb that's fallen asleep.

xxxxxAny damage that is done to his ossified flesh will be reflected when he reverts back to normal; bumps will translate to bruises, shattered sections to cuts and gashes. Flesh that has been ossified will remain so until he makes a conscious effort to revert it; undoing it is almost instant.

xxxxxAs stated before, with physical contact he is able to ossify the flesh of others who don't have any mutation that would prevent damage being done to them. However, because of the prickly feeling that comes along with the ossification power, it isn't something that can be done stealthily; if his target breaks contact before he's able to complete the process it will be undone, so he does have to be able to maintain a grip for a good ten seconds. If he does manage to complete such a process, though, his target will remain affected until he chooses to undo it.

Trivia
  • Toru was in Fight Club! Due to that being a hectic time for the player, no fights were actually RP'd, but figure he had a few fights that were low on theatrics and a roughly fifty-fifty win-loss rate. Bonefists aren't really interesting enough to take center stage when you could watch sharks and more sharks and Spider-Tots and trees instead.
Connections

Positive

  • Regan - Apparently his boss now! (But maybe there's... still a chance? ♥)

Negative

Neutral

  • Micah - Friends with a racist!!! Otherwise, ambivalence.
