"Always a chance something happens that the X-men won't be able to stop."

Location

<XS> Playground

Set on the still-expansive grounds around the side of the school, this area is to the outdoors rather what the rec room is to the indoors. There's a large basketball court out here; a fenced-off tennis court adjacent. Further distant there are setups for other sports -- a large track, a soccer field.

Closer in to the school, though, in its own large enclosure adjacent to the basketball and tennis courts, is the playground, a huge expanse of equipment set up on alternating plots of slightly squishy flooring and mulch. Centrally there is a large sprinkler-fountain, not always /on/ but it can be turned on with a push of a button; spreading out around this is the actual playground equipment, sturdy and varied. A huge dome constructed in honeycombed interlocked poles and rope netting rises hiiiigh for climbing; a large swingset holds four pairs of swings. A large roundabout in bright colours stands in one corner near a long see-saw. The huge bridge-and-tunnel castle structure at one end has many routes of entry, from poles to climb up (or slide down) to a small climbing /wall/. Monkeybars. Four different slides of varying lengths and spiraling.

For the adventurous, between things to climb on and jump between and bounce across it is probably possible to skirt one end of the playground and back without touching the ground, though it might take a particularly adept feat of balance and agility.

Or possibly wings.

The sun is starting to set here at Xavier's, and most of the students are either out in the city or engaging in other ventures about the school. Kaine has set up under one of the domed climbing structures, which now more resembles an iced over igloo. Further out are several humanoid targets made entirely of ice, a few with ice spikes sticking out of them in various places. The teenager is dressed in a pair of loose yoga pants, a tank top that reads 'Training to go Super Saiyan' with a silhouette of Vegeta lifting weights, and his hair is tied back in a ponytail. A few yellowish bruises dot his exposed flesh.

In his astral form, Sergio is blind without another mind present and it seems, he's wandered too far. Disembodied, he wanders, as if stumbling, through a great, black abyss. Blindly, he searches for another mind with his hands, would that he had them, outstretched as if to feel. There is no sound as the budding young telepath approaches, nor smell, nor change in temperature.

There's also no warning when all the ice on the dome shatters out, forming hundreds of tiny spikes that skewer each of the targets before all the ice melts. Kaine appears tired after all of that, sitting down. "It's entirely too fucking hot." he grumbles. "Winter can't get back here soon enough."

Blinking his eyes, the switchboard of Sergio’s mind lights up as he comes within range of Kaine. He let’s out an audible sigh of awe, watching the ice splinter out. The breath isn’t let out by any pair of lungs, but projects forward into the minds of anyone around. << That’s awesome. >> As Sergio speaks telepathically, he doesn't stage his voice, nor does he pronounce his words with more than usual care. It’s casual, even conversational.

Kaine perks up a bit, "Who's there?" he asks, gaze shifting about. When he doesn't spot anybody he lies back. "Telepath?" he calls out questioningly.

<< Sorry, I got a little lost. >> Sergio sits, as if just beside Kaine. As Kaine shifts his gaze, Sergio’s gaze follows it. He takes in the surroundings, making note of the distance and direction of the school. << Yeah. I’m Sergio. Uhm-Jack’s roommate. >>

"Oh, cool. As often as Jack and I hang out, was wondering when I'd get around to meeting you." Kaine says. "I'm Kaine. Jack's unofficial best friend, don't let him tell you otherwise either."

<< I won’t. >> The psychic lets out a snort of laughter. << I guess I haven’t met many people, everyone’s away or whatever. And I’m stuck inside. ...Kaine, huh? That ice thing is crazy! Remind me not to piss you off. >> Despite being largely unreachable, his tone is jovial and open.

"It's probably my favorite thing to do, besides getting new piercings. Tattoos once I hit eighteen." Kaine says. "And you don't have to worry about it, more preparing for the school coming out, because you never know what'll happen. Always a chance something happens that the X-men won't be able to stop."

<< Yeah. >> There's a pause. << You have a lot. >> Sergio subdues a giggle as if gulping it down. << I think my mom would kill me if I did somethin' like that. The X-Men wouldn't even be able to save me. >> << Do you really think anything that big could happen? That they wouldn't handle? >>

"There's always a possibility." Kaine lifts his shoulders in a slight shrug. "I don't want to be unprepared if anything did happen. Oh, and my parents didn't really mind. I got my septum done before I came here, the newer ones are my ears and prince Albert. Jack went out with me to get new captive bead rings for my ears, and when I got my PA. He didn't go in with me though, he hates needles."

<< Your PA? That's the one ...down there? >> Sergio's tone suggests he might be looking right at it. << I'm not afraid of needles, but one pointed at my dick might make me think twice. >> He laughs. << I'm not surprised he didn't go in. Man, I wouldn't go in. Okay, I *might.* >>

"Yeah, that's the one. Not as bad as long as you don't look at it, my septum definitely hurt worse. Probably the most painful thing I've done." Kaine admits with a small chuckle. "He's gonna have to come in or find something to do when I move up to getting tattoos if he still wants to come along."

Sergio nearly keels over, bringing a fist to conceal his unseen grin. Of course, to the naked eye, Kaine is sitting around talking to himself. << Doesn't it -y'know- when you ... /y'know/? >> He shakes his head. << Isn't it a different looking needle, though? My cousin got a tattoo, once. It was just like, a hibiscus. Our tutu cried for a week. >>

"Nope, not sure what you're getting at." Kaine reaching up to rub at his eyes and yawn tiredly. "And yeah, the tattoo machine doesn't really look like a traditional needle. It's a few smaller needles. Not supposed to really hurt unless you get somewhere where the skin is thin, or on your foot or ribs."

<< Huh. >> The telepath’s vision is temporarily impaired as Kaine rubs his eye. << I’m gonna /not/ take your word on that one. >> He chuckles. << A few smaller needles doesn’t sound like it’s gonna hurt any less. >> There’s another pause, as Sergio takes in a sweep of their location. << I should get back to my body. It was cool meeting you, though! >>

"Alright, take care!" Kaine says with a two-fingered salute to nothing. "Sweet meeting you. Kind of."

Turning back towards the school after offering an unseen salute of his own, it isn't long before everything goes black for a while. That is, until more active minds within the school make it possible for Sergio to see, again.
